After the disgusting and undeserved amount of free press that
Jack Thompson is getting these days, the Electronic Software Association is responding with a compilation of research articles that aim to prove how there is no link between violence and video games.
There of course are just as many pieces of legitimate research which attempt to prove the contrary, and the internet is full of amateur rebuttals and counter-rebuttals of the issue, and we'd rather play a good game than get involved in this, but one should note that the Violent Videogames Bill was invented, and is currently being pushed for approval in California, by Arnold Swarzenegger, the very same man who became rich and famous through such Ghandi-inspired peace classics as
Conan The Barbarian,
Total Recall,
Red Heat,
Red Sonja,
Predator, two Terminators, and the age-old tale of international cooperation,
Commando.
Perhaps some people should be checking their own conscience, before they mess with the right that adult gamers have to play adult-oriented, violence filled games? (Speaking of which, time for some more
7 Sins).
