The rumors about Toshiba's newfound (forced) love for Blu-Ray are officially true as Toshiba has confirmed it has applied to become a member of the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA) and wants to release products that support the high-def format. The Japanese company names the recent growth in digital devices supporting the Blu-ray format, combined with market demand from consumers and retailers alike, for its decision to go 'Blu'.

Although not providing specifics, Toshiba has revealed that it will start releasing Blu-Ray players and notebooks equipped with Blu-Ray drives by the end of this year. Finally.
